An age old custom in Klal Yisrael is to place a special cup for Eliyahu Hanavi on the Seder table. The sefer Machsheves Yisrael explains that the cup of Eliyahu Hanavi on the Festival of Freedom hints to our endless yearning for the Redemption of Klal Yisrael, based on the passuk: "Hinei Anochi sholeach lachem es Eliyahu Hanavi, I hereby send you Eliyahu Hanavi before the arrival of the great day of Hashem. (Malachi 3:23)"
